Neurocysticercosis in the most severe manifestation of the infestation by Taenia solium eggs in all of its clinical forms: parenchymal, meningeal, intraventricular, and spinal. Its importance in human and animal public health is of first order not only because of its high morbidity and mortality rates but also due to the economic considerations secondary to the clinical and surgical care of patients and the loss of infected animals.
