This Catalogue is divided into Three Sections:

First section: COMPULSORY ACADEMIC ACTIVITIES
Second section: COMPLEMENTARY ACADEMIC ACTIVITIES (electives) and Minor Areas
Third section: ACADEMIC ACTIVITIES:
1. Research and Thesis Seminar
2. Research Work

First section

COMPULSORY ACADEMIC ACTIVITIES
These activities correspond to the curricular map of the Medical and Dental Sciences Fields of Knowledge and to those related to the Main Fields of Study in Health Sciences.

Second section

COMPLEMENTARY ACADEMIC ACTIVITIES (ISOLATED ELECTIVES AND MINOR AREAS):
ISOLATED ELECTIVES: Are subjects that can be taken without their necessarily forming a "Minor Area". The following come under this category:
" All subjects listed in the second section
" All the compulsory subjects on the Program. They should not, however, be compulsory for the student's field of knowledge.
" Subjects from other postgraduate programs offered by UNAM or other educational institutions with postgraduate level programs, subject to the authorization of the corresponding Academic Subcommittees.
" Subjects authorized as part of a minor area.

MINOR AREAS: Are those academic activities that have been authorized to comprise a complementary study area (Minor Area) to the compulsory subjects of each Field of Knowledge.

Minor Areas may be constituted by:
Compulsory Academic Activities from the different fields of the Program. These are an EXCLUSIVE OPTION for students who will not take them or have not already taken them as part of their compulsory curricular map.
Elective Academic Activities. They can be an OPTION for all students. Most of these subjects are integrated into an authorized minor area.
When a student registers for a minor area, he/she must take all the academic activities included in it if the sum of the credits is 12.
In the case of minor areas made up of academic activities with a credit sum of over 12, then students must take at least two of these activities.
The student who accredits all the academic activities in a certain minor area will have the right to an additional certificate for studies in a complementary area to his/her major. (For further information, please see the Program).

Registration for both isolated elective academic activities and a minor area shall proceed providing that in the opinion of the main tutor their choice is congruent with the research topic or methodology of the research outline leading to the preparation of the thesis and that it is ratified by the Academic Subcommittee of the field of study. It will also be subject to the number of vacant places.
It is important to take into account the Semester they are programmed for.

Third Section

CORRESPONDS TO THE FOLLOWING ACADEMIC ACTIVITIES:
" Research and Thesis Seminar"
" Research Work"
Both are compulsory for the master's degree and Ph.D. degree academic levels and must be taken during the fourth Semester.
In this section you will find the necessary information for enrolling for these two subjects using the registration form for the corresponding Semester.
Carefully write down the name, key and group of each professor for both subjects. Tutors must be on the list of tutors approved to give tutorials.
