COURSE-WORKSHOP ON INFORMATICS AUDITS IN SOCIAL SECURITY INSTITUTIONS

This course-workshop was held from 10 November-5 December to prepare participants to establish information systems control, evaluation and supervisory measures, thus helping to minimize risks and the vulnerability of information processed in Social Security institutions.

In this academic activity, organized by the CIESS Informatics Area, 27 officials from the following countries participated: Bolivia, Chile, Costa Rica, Cuba, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama and Uruguay.

The final activities were designed to study how to evaluate different aspects of inter-organizational informatics. It should be stressed that during this course-workshop, CIESS began a study that includes an analysis of the state of the art of Informatics in the countries that are members of the Inter-American Social Security Conference (CISS), which intends to establish parameters of awareness and management of software and hardware in Social Security institutions in the Americas. The participants expressed their wish to delve deeper into the subject by means of future academic activities on specific aspects, such as medical audits, that were considered in this course-workshop.
